VINTAGE
1984 57cm VITUS 979 Beautiful
Road Racer NOTE: I replaced the 600 crankset with Dura Ace to make the group set a complete Dura Ace 7400 set. In the mid 80’s Vitus 979 bikes were
the mac-daddy aluminum bikes to ride. I
didn’t have that kind of cash so I rode a Cannondale. One of my buddies road a Vitus and I was
always looking at it and dreaming. I
bought this one in the mid 2000’s way after they the bike world has passed them
on. I found that they still provide a
great ride AND people stop to look and comment on them. Frame has orange (rare it seems to
me) anodized (not painted) tubes with polished silver aluminum lugs and a standard seat post clamp. The wheelset is super
light and race worthy and give the bike that extra pop and gets a lot of
comments. Parts alone are worth more that the listing price, someone will be getting a great deal. Made in France Serial number E048334 (E=1984, 8=August,
